Installation from binary packages

Binary packages of Gambas are now be created by the openSUSE build server.

Daily build of the development version only!

Only a daily build of the development version has been implemented at the moment, but the next stable version of Gambas will be packaged the same way.

When you add the openSUSE build service repository for the first time, remove all previous installations of Gambas entirely, to prevent any weird dependency problem.

If you have compiled Gambas from sources, remove the result by running sudo make uninstall.

ArchLinux / Manjaro

For Arch Linux, edit /etc/pacman.conf and add the following (note that the order of repositories in pacman.conf is important, since pacman always downloads the first found package):

[home_gambas_master_ArchLinux]
Server = https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/gambas:/master/ArchLinux/$arch

Then run the following as root:

$ key=$(curl -fsSL https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:gambas:master/ArchLinux/$(uname -m)/home_gambas_master_ArchLinux.key)
$ fingerprint=$(gpg --quiet --with-colons --import-options show-only --import --fingerprint <<< "${key}" | awk -F: '$1 == "fpr" { print $10 }')

$ pacman-key --init
$ pacman-key --add - <<< "${key}"
$ pacman-key --lsign-key "${fingerprint}"

$ pacman -Sy home_gambas_master_ArchLinux/gambas3

Debian

Debian 11

For Debian 11 run the following: Keep in mind that the owner of the key may distribute updates, packages and repositories that your system will trust (more information).

$ echo 'deb http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/gambas:/master/Debian_11/ /' | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/home:gambas:master.list
$ curl -fsSL https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:gambas:master/Debian_11/Release.key | gpg --dearmor | sudo tee /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/home_gambas_master.gpg > /dev/null
$ sudo apt update
$ sudo apt install gambas3

Debian 12

For Debian 12 run the following: Keep in mind that the owner of the key may distribute updates, packages and repositories that your system will trust (more information).

$ echo 'deb http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/gambas:/master/Debian_12/ /' | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/home:gambas:master.list
$ curl -fsSL https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:gambas:master/Debian_12/Release.key | gpg --dearmor | sudo tee /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/home_gambas_master.gpg > /dev/null
$ sudo apt update
$ sudo apt install gambas3

openSUSE

openSUSE TumbleWeed

For openSUSE Tumbleweed run the following as root:

$ zypper addrepo https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:gambas:master/openSUSE_Tumbleweed/home:gambas:master.repo
$ zypper refresh
$ zypper install gambas3

openSUSE Leap 15.6

For openSUSE Leap 15.6 run the following as root:

$ zypper addrepo https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:gambas:master/openSUSE_Leap_15.6/home:gambas:master.repo

Ubuntu

For Ubuntu 20.04, Ubuntu 22.04, Ubuntu 24.04 and Ubuntu 24.10, run the following, by replacing <VERSION> by the Ubuntu version:

Keep in mind that the owner of the key may distribute updates, packages and repositories that your system will trust (more information).

$ echo 'deb http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/gambas:/master/xUbuntu_<VERSION>/ /' | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/home:gambas:master.list
$ curl -fsSL https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:gambas:master/xUbuntu_<VERSION>/Release.key | gpg --dearmor | sudo tee /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/home_gambas_master.gpg > /dev/null
$ sudo apt update
$ sudo apt install gambas3
